Menstruation is an irritating factor for every woman. It is not about facing the irregularity in menstrual cycle, but is about the causes and symptoms that one has to face during the period. The day when you get your first period, your mother always helps you understanding the problem and how to deal with it. However, it becomes very important for you to understand the menstrual cycle and the premenstrual causes that occur in many.

Menstrual Cycle

A menstrual cycle starts from the first day of your period to the first day of your next period, which in other words can be termed as a month’s duration. An average cycle is calculated in duration of 28 days, but it can range from 21 to 35 days as per the exertion of your body.

Involvement of body organs

Various parts of your body are involved in this cycle which includes vagina, uterus, ovaries, cervix, fallopian tubes, pituitary gland, and brain from where the fluid starts flowing.

 Normal occurrence of your first period

Starting from the age of 12 a girl gets her regular menstruation. Some get this on early years, called as pre-menstruation and some get late. Therefore, the common time limit is set between the ages of 8 to 15. In most cases, a girl gets her first period after two years of age when her breasts start growing. Once occurs, the fluid runs for continuous 5 days depending upon woman to woman. In other words, you can get menstruation for 3 days to 7 days. If it extends more than that or if you have skipped your regular menstruation cycle then it is recommended to consult your healthcare provider.

 Is there any end to menstruation cycle?

There is a time on later stage when you’ll get the menopause which means a woman no longer ovulate or produce eggs to get pregnant. It can occur anytime when you become old or from 45 to 55 years of age. Usually, it occurs in most of the women at the age of 50.

 Common symptoms during menstruation

When you are on your menstruation cycle, you may get various symptoms that keep you tired or stressed. Some of the common symptoms during the time of menstruation are –

  • Backache
  • Headache and fatigue
  • Mood swings and irritability
  • Pelvic pressure
  • Cramp, bloat and sore breasts
  • Water retention
  • Food cravings

 Nearly 85 percent of women around the globe report to experience physical and emotional changes throughout the period. These are common symptoms that diminish once the period is gone and if turns severe then involvement of a doctor is must.
